There is a great alternative for brown rice. Drum roll please. Meet parboiled rice!
Wait. Par-what?
Parboiled. Parboiled rice undergoes a special process to preserve the nutrients from the bran, germ and husk.
Yeah. Yeah. Great, I’m listening. So how do I cook it?
Easy. Got 20 mins? Here are the tools you will need-
- Instant Pot
- Strainer
- Spatula
Here are the ingredients-
- 1 cup of rice
- 1 1/4 cup of water
- pinch of salt (to taste)
If you are feeling like you need flavor- peppers and garlic always add a latin flare. Cha-cha skirt not required.
Great. I have all that. Now what do I do?
- Gently wash the rice. or not- your choice.
- 2 cups of rice goes in the instant pot
- 2.5 cups of water go in the pot as well
- A little pinch of salt -or- a big pinch. It depends on you. Just remember low sodium is the way to go.
- Press “rice” button and cook for 15 minutes.
- Natural Release and you are done.
